Power needed to start a 15 HP tractor lawnmower?

Hello all, I have a craftsman tractor lawnmower rated at 15 HP. The lead acid battery was charged, left 2 weeks, and was completely dead when I tried to start it. I jump started it, and when the fuel ran out I refueled it and it barely started on its own power. When it was time to refuel it again, the lawnmower wouldn't start on its own power this time. I thought the battery was pooped, and we needed a new one. I bought an energizer lawn 12V PB battery with 200 cold cranking amps at walmart, and I hope it will be enough. How much power do you people think is required to start the tractor? Will the new battery be good enough? Thanks!

The battery will be fine. Sounds like the battery was the problem. Those engines only have a 3 amp charging system. That is enough to charge the battery after starting. The headlights have their own system and do not come off the battery. The only other thing on the tractor that might use battery power is the solenoid on the bottom of the carburetor. It should not have power with the ignition switch in the off position. Nothing else will drain the battery. Those small batteries only last a couple of seasons.
